The earliest records of the property date back to 1400 under the ownership of Piero Alamanno Salviati di Firenze. In 1565 a different member of the Salviati family, Maria, mother of Cosimo I de' Medici, awarded the farm and all its annexes to the Sforza Almeni family, as compensation for acting as counsellor to the Grand-Duke. The family coat of arms can still be seen today on the front of one of the principal buildings in the town of Peccioli. The Almeni family maintained the farm for nearly 200 years, until 1764 when the last descendant died.

The property was later acquired by the Berte family from Provence. During the first half of the 19th century the land was amalgamated into the property of the Gerolamo Gaslini Foundation, and so it remained until the purchase by the Fondi Rustici Peccioli. The Gaslini Foundation possessed several such investments in both Tuscany and Umbria.
